by Archimandrite Symeon Kragiopoulos
This book is a perpetual calendar (usable for any year) organized according to the liturgical cycles of the Church – daily/fixed, moveable, festal and pre-/postfestal. The listing for each day includes an excerpt relevant to the day from Archimandrite Symeon’s homilies and talks. These daily messages reflect the spiritual wisdom of this contemporary elder, who lived in austere asceticism but was nonetheless lovingly close to everyone who approached him. This enabled him to offer the eternal truths of the Church in fresh, natural, and healing ways.
Fr. Symeon’s whole life was humility, obscurity, silence. The center and goal of his existence was to live the true life in Christ. Fr. Symeon's fervent desire was to teach believers and initiate them into the mystery of salvation. He lived according to the absolute belief that “God governs,” “God knows,” and “God will show.” In his soul rested the Holy Spirit; his daily concern was to please God, as much as possible, in everything. And the Elder wholeheartedly strove to convey this focus to believers.
